Book summary:
Marguerite Ledoux, a French girl, is bound out to the Sargent family. Traveling with them to an island near Canada, where they purchased a house. When they arrive, they hear stories about Indians attacking the people living on the island.
Maggie, as the Sargent family now calls Marguerite, must overcome many trials and hardships, including death and the constant threat of an Indian attack.
When the Indians do come, Maggie faces them with bravery and gives them food to make them leave.
Maggie is given the choice to return back to France on a ship. But how can she leave the family she has grown to love?
