Grayson
Lynne Cox
Book summary:
Early in the morning, seventeen-year-old Lynne is doing her everyday workout: swimming back and forth between the Seal Beach pier and the San Gabriel River jetty. The ocean is peaceful and Lynne is swimming well.
All of a sudden, the ocean comes alive. Anchovies, grunion and tuna are swarming around Lynne. She swims among the fish for a bit, then, as suddenly as they came, they vanish. Something bigger is swimming under Lynne. Something huge.
A bit later, Lynne discovers that she is being followed by a baby gray whale. It has lost its mother and its pod, and it is in danger of dying of hunger if it can’t find its mother. Can Lynne help the baby gray before it is too late?

Thoughts: A really sweet story about a whale and a girl. Some of my friends read this book years ago, but I never did. I’ve wanted to, and now I finally picked it up! A very short read, but still a good memoir.
