Book summary:
Thirteen-year-old Dirk Ingelse and his younger sister Anna are on the run from the Gestapo. The Nazis have captured Dirk’s older sister Els in order to get information about her father, who is a vital part of the Dutch Resistance.
Now, Dirk and Anna have to leave their home behind in order to keep away from the Gestapo. The two siblings find refuge in their aunt’s house, but there is barely any food to survive on.
Can Dirk and Anna make their way to their grandparent’s house, while keeping away from Nazi checkpoints, finding what food they can and keeping each other safe, at the same time as trying to find their father and sister?

Thoughts: This was actually a great book! It seems that whenever I want to read a historical fiction book, it always ends up being about WWII. But I can’t complain! I love learning everything I can about that period of history.
