Book summary:
Jack Zulu lives in everyday, boring Myrtle, West Virginia. However dull his life is, he has a few upsides. Number one, he is an incredible baseball player. Number two, he has an amazing best friend named Benny. And number three, he has all the books he can read.
But, Jack’s mom is in the hospital, and things are not looking good for her. The doctors assume she only has a bit of life left in her.
One day, a bright moment ignites the surrounding darkness. Jack and Benny are transported through a tree to a different world called the Wayland. There, Jack discovers that everything he’s read about in books is more than myth. In the Wayland, it’s reality.
But darkness is surrounding the Wayland, and Myrtle. Can Jack, with the help of Benny, stop the darkness before its too late?

Thoughts: This book is so dang good!! I love everything about it, and I think I laughed over 20 times while reading it. Benny cracks me up. He and Jo (from the Green Ember series) are hilarious. Such a great book.
