Book summary:
After the death of her best friend, Meryl Lee Kowalski’s parents decide that she should go to a private school far from Long Island where they live, so not to be haunted by terrible memories.
So, Meryl Lee is enrolled into St. Elene’s Preparatory Academy for Girls. When she arrives there, she feels out of place among girls who seem to have known each other for years. Meryl Lee must start a new school year away from everyone she’s ever known.
Matt Coffin is on the run from someone very dangerous. Everywhere he goes, he is always found. That is, until Matt finds Mrs. MacKnockater, who provides him with a home and food. Soon, Matt begins to relax. But nowhere is safe from this particular dangerous criminal.
Matt and Meryl Lee’s worlds soon collide, and the two must find a way to help each other, one to save and the other to heal.
