Book summary:
Abby Beckett is training to be an Aesir, a Viking warrior dedicated to hunting down and destroying Grendels around the world. Every Aesir is born with a special ability to help them fight Grendels. But Abby’s ability has yet to make itself known.
One day, after training with her dad, Abby sees something in her house, something that looks strangely like a Grendel. Abby and her dad leave their home soon after, and drive to Minnesota. They have been called there by the Grey Council, aka the Viking Authority.
When the two arrive in Minnesota, Abby’s dad has mysteriously been put into a coma. And the cure for his illness comes from a rare plant not seen in years. Thoughts: When I first picked this book up, I thought it was going to be mediocre, but it ended up being really good! Since I read Beowulf recently, I know the story, and I liked how the book combined myths, history, and current times. Overall, a really exciting read.
