Book summary:
When Maeve Merritt discovers a djinni living in a sardine tin, the first thing she thinks of to wish is world adventure, and a girl’s cricket team. Of course, she doesn’t wish for these things… yet.
With her roommate Alice and orphan boy Tom, she travels to Persia, the previous home of the djinni. An encounter with his father, a sorcerer king, however, puts a damper on her adventure.
While Maeve longs for fame, and maybe fortune, all Tom wants is a family. Can Maeve push aside her dreams and help her best friend?
With an orange-whiskered man on her trail, doing so might be harder than expected.

Thoughts: Definitely could be a retelling of Aladdin. Maeve is certainly not a force to be reconned with. I am super excited to read the other two books in this series! (By the way, if you are confused by which girl Maeve is on the book cover, she is the girl in the middle. Don’t worry; I was confused too 😁)
